Such a tragically beautiful latin saying! This piece is part of my “los muertos” series. I used a vintage damask for the background and sides of the altar. It’s so lovely, especially when dyed-the overall pattern really pop’s!  All the flowers are cut from antique pieces-tablecloths, runners, curtains, even an old bridal gown. I hand quilted, embroidered and embellished with beads & silver milagros. The roof is a  lovely circa 1930’s striped silk taffeta.

Techniques: Hand quilting, embroidery, beading, dye, fabric paint.
