it’s been a quiet week of reflection, mediation, art and LOTS of gardening (the best therapy for me). i hacked away (very therapeutic) at the cape honeysuckle vines-in some places they reach 50 feet plus. i recycled a few into my “extra wide” chaise lounge. it was a challenge-i don’t use power saws without supervision-so i used a pruning saw- lots of blisters-but very fullfilling and rewarding. i have a new respect for all those pioneers and their log cabin’s! it is” june gloom” in the morning here-perfect gardening weather. i’m transplanting lots of sword ferns, jade plants, asparagus ferns, geraniums and loquats. (for anyone in the area-i have quite a large supply- if anything rings a bell-they are yours).
i’m enchanted with my roses-especially my graham thomas (pictured) cecile brunner and abraham darby-all beautiful performers and scent to die for. i’m off to the nursery today-angie will have a new rose planted in her name. we are all moving forward at different paces. one of the best gifts animals have taught me is living in the present-what happened yesterday-what happens tomorrow isn’t relevant in their world-it’s what’s happening now.

Such lovely photos. My favorite rose is Abraham Darby too. The fragrance is just so wonderful. It transforms my mood to one of peace and joy in an instant. I just planted a Cecile Brunner too. Gardening is very soothing and therapeutic. I read your post with tears in my eyes, as I relate to your loss of Angie. It takes time to get beyond such a love, doesn’t it? I think rituals and remembrances are healing and it gives one a chance to go back and light a candle and renew a love that really never ends. I hope you are nurturing yourself in ways that feel good, even if only for a few minutes everyday.
