This piece with the harpies is so rich in imagery and I love the applique too. (I love doing applique.) It will be fun to see how you finish this piece. You must do varied research to come up with these always magical images. I agree with you about the importance of altar pieces. There is so much healing that comes from ritual and tribute. I think in our culture we need to bring the importance of this back into our lives. Lighting a candle of remembrance is also a rich and daily gesture that signifies so much love.
