i have a drop dead gorgeous victorian frame that i am putting the "girls" in. i am enjoying them so much, it's one of the rare pieces that i am not looking forward to finishing. ususally, in my head, i'm onto the next project ,while still in the middle of the first!
it's not really even officially summer-but i already see glimpses of my annual fall altar for dia de los muertos at hollywood forever.

I love mythology too, and especially in your hands. This piece with the harpies is so rich in imagery and I love the applique too. (I love doing applique.) It will be fun to see how you finish this piece. You must do varied research to come up with these always magical images.

I agree with you about the importance of altar pieces. There is so much healing that comes from ritual and tribute. I think in our culture we need to bring the importance of this back into our lives. Lighting a candle of remembrance is also a rich and daily gesture that signifies so much love.
